Sausage Penne Alfredo from Dishin with Dixie

For meal #14 of my Aldi 25 Experiment I made one of my own recipes.  Sausage Penne Alfredo is very easy to put together and very quick to make.

Here’s the tally for this dish:
Sausage – $2.39
Pasta – $1.29
Peas – $0.45
Tomatoes – $0.59
Sauce – $1.69
Cheese – $0.31
—————————————————-
For a total of $6.72 for 8 servings (that’s $0.84 per serving)

Sausage Penne Alfredo

1 smoked sausage or polska kielbasa, sliced
1 pound penne pasta, or whatever pasta you have available
1 (14 oz.) jar alfredo sauce
1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
2 cloves minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
salt and pepper, to taste
2 cups peas
1 cup Parmesan cheese, divided

Bring a pot of salted water to boil.  Add pasta and cook until al dente.

Meanwhile in a skillet, over medium-high heat, stir fry sausage until lightly browned.

Add tomatoes, garlic, basil and salt and pepper.  Stir in alfredo sauce and peas.  When peas have been warmed through add in drained pasta and 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.  Stir well.

Transfer to serving bowl and top with remaining cheese.
